The Step Before the Bridge
In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Harrison Ford plays archaeologist Indiana Jones racing against time to save his dying father. Standing at the edge of a vast chasm with no visible way across, Indy faces what his father's journal calls "the leap of faith." There is no bridge on any map. There is nothing below him but air and a long fall to the canyon floor.
With his father's life hanging in the balance, Indy places his hand over his heart, leans forward, and steps into the void.
The moment his foot moves forward, stone appears beneath it — a narrow bridge, perfectly camouflaged against the canyon walls, invisible until he actually stepped out.
That scene captures something essential about biblical faith. Hebrews 11:1 tells us faith is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Not blind optimism. Not wishful thinking. But a trust so settled it moves the body before the way is clear.
