The Tracking That Finally Stopped
In April 2021, Apple released iOS 14.5 with a feature called App Tracking Transparency. For years, apps had been silently following users across the internet — cataloging every search, every purchase, every late-night scroll — building invisible profiles that shaped what people saw, what they were sold, and even how they felt about themselves. Most users had no idea it was happening.
Then a simple prompt appeared on every iPhone screen: "Allow this app to track your activity?" And when given the choice, the overwhelming majority of users said no. They chose freedom — not because they suddenly understood the algorithms, but because someone finally revealed what had been following them all along.
Sin works like that invisible tracking code. It runs in the background of our lives, quietly cataloging our failures, building a profile of shame, following us from conversation to conversation, relationship to relationship. We grow so accustomed to the weight that we mistake it for normal.
But the Gospel is God's transparency prompt. Through Christ, the Father pulls back the curtain and says, "This has been following you. It doesn't have to anymore." Paul wrote it plainly: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free" (Galatians 5:1).
You don't have to carry the invisible weight. The tracking has stopped. The old profile has been deleted. In Christ, you are finally, fully free.
