The Unfolding

On Christmas Day 2021, NASA launched the James Webb Space Telescope into space. After twenty-five years of development, delays, and budget overruns, the most powerful telescope ever built was finally on its way. But the waiting was far from over.

Webb could not simply power on and start photographing the cosmos. It had to travel one million miles to its orbital position — a journey that took thirty days. Then came the unfolding. The telescope's massive sunshield and gold-plated mirrors had been folded like origami to fit inside the rocket. Over two weeks, three hundred and forty-four individual mechanisms had to deploy in precise sequence. A single failure would have ended the mission. NASA engineers could not rush a single step. They could only watch, wait, and trust the process they had set in motion.

Six months later, when Webb's first images arrived — galaxies blazing with light from thirteen billion years ago — the whole world caught its breath.

James writes, "Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." God is unfolding something in your life right now. It does not look like much yet. The mirrors are still adjusting. The journey is not finished. But the Engineer who designed you knows exactly how many steps remain, and He will not skip a single one. Do not rush what the Almighty is still calibrating. The image He is preparing will take your breath away.
