The Update That Would Not Quit
Every iPhone user knows the experience. You dismiss that software update notification once, twice, a dozen times. You swipe it away at breakfast, ignore it during your commute, tap "Remind Me Later" before bed. But iOS never gives up on you. Days later, weeks later, that gentle reminder appears again. The update is ready. It has been ready. It will keep asking, not out of annoyance, but because Apple's engineers know your device needs what they have prepared for it — security patches that protect you from threats you cannot see, features designed to make your life better.
God's grace works with that same holy persistence. The prophet Jeremiah described it as the Lord rising up early and sending His messengers, "again and again" (Jeremiah 25:4). The Apostle Peter wrote that the Lord is patient, "not wanting anyone to perish" (2 Peter 3:9). He does not force the update. He never overrides your will. But He does not stop offering, either.
Some of us have been swiping away the Holy Spirit's promptings for months, maybe years. A nudge toward forgiveness we are not ready to grant. A call toward surrender we keep postponing. A whisper about that conversation we need to have.
Here is the difference: Apple will eventually stop supporting your old operating system. But God never stops pursuing His children. His patience never reaches end of life. Today, stop tapping "Later." Let Him do the work He has already prepared.
