Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed. The Hebrew ashrei suggests happiness, flourishing, the good life. And it comes not from achievement but from forgiveness. Transgressions forgiven. Sins covered. Three words for wrongdoing in these verses—transgression, sin, iniquity. Three words for remedy—forgiven, covered, not counted. Whatever the failure, there is remedy. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.…
