Timothy's Report: 1 Thessalonians 3:1-13

So when we could stand it no longer, we thought it best to be left by ourselves in Athens.

Paul could not stand it any longer. The not-knowing. The worry. The uncertainty.

In Athens—that city of idols, where Paul had stood on the Areopagus and spoken of the unknown god—he had made a decision.

We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God's service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith.
