True Wisdom Descends from Head to Heart
Proverbs 16:21 declares that the wise in heart shall be called prudent. This distinction matters profoundly: true wisdom must manifest in phronesis (practical wisdom) and conduct, not remain abstract knowledge.
Many possess wise heads yet foolish hearts. Solomon catalogs such men among fools because they possess the means to live well but refuse to use them. A scholar may read widely, understand clearly, yet harbor a beloved lust or fond opinion that prevents obedience. His intellectual capacity becomes merely a sharper instrument of self-deception.
The prudent man differs radically. He enters good ways and walks uprightly in them, choosing honest ends and honest methods. He receives correction thankfully and avoids dangers of which he is admonished. His wisdom warms the affections with love of what is good, blessing the world with a truly valuable and useful man.
False wisdom comprises fallacies and cunning devices—eloquence deployed without truth's restraint. Heresy and error in religion have prevailed through abused rhetoric. When eloquence serves wisdom, both talents become desirable in legislators, governors, and teachers of religion. But eloquence must remain under wisdom's direction.
Jesus Christ is called the Wisdom of Elohim, containing all treasures of Divine wisdom. To gain true wisdom, study yourself—discern what faculties Yahweh has bestowed—and improve them through daily exercise. Let wisdom descend from intellect into your heart.
