Understanding Patience - Commentary

Patience is one of the most exquisite virtues we can cultivate in our Christian journey, and it is beautifully illustrated in the profound truth of John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.” Here, we see patience woven into the very fabric of God’s love, a love that transforms our understanding of time and grace.

The Greek word for patience, makrothymia, emphasizes a long-suffering spirit. It invites us to trust in God's timing, understanding that divine love often requires us to wait. Likewise, the Hebrew concept of hesed—steadfast love—encourages us to be unwavering in our faith, even amidst life’s trials.
