When Kindness - Biblical Analogy
There’s a story I heard about a young boy named Samuel who loved to walk to school through a small, overgrown path in his neighborhood. It was a shortcut, but every day he passed a house with a big, old dog named Max. Max was notorious for barking ferociously whenever anyone approached, making the path seem more like a battleground than a shortcut.
One morning, Samuel had a particularly difficult day at school, and as he trudged home, the remembered roar of Max’s bark loomed large in his mind. As he approached the house, he felt that familiar knot of fear tightening in his chest. But something happened that day. Just as he neared the gate, he saw Max lying in the sun, a gentle look in his eyes instead of the usual growl. With courage, Samuel stepped closer. To his surprise, Max wagged his tail and let out a soft whine as if to say, “I’m not here to harm you.”
It was in that moment of unexpected kindness that Samuel realized fear could be transformed by love. In Psalm 23, we read how God leads us beside still waters and comforts us in our darkest valleys. Just as Samuel found comfort in the presence of that dog, we can trust that God's kindness will meet us in our trials, testing our strength yet inviting us to experience His love.
So today, remember that even in the most daunting paths of life, God’s love can turn our fears into peace. Embrace that love and let it guide you through.
