When Love - Story

There was a woman in our community, Sister Mary, who lived a life punctuated by struggle and heartache. For years, she battled the shadows of addiction, believing that love was something she could never truly grasp. She often shared how she felt like she was drowning in a sea of despair, with waves of temptation crashing over her. But something incredible happened when she decided to surrender her life to Christ.

One Sunday, she stood before our congregation, a radiant smile breaking across her face—a smile that spoke of perseverance and transformation. “It’s by grace,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion, “that I am saved through faith, and this is not my own doing. It is the gift of God.” In that moment, she embodied Ephesians 2:8-9.

As she talked about her journey, she painted pictures of late nights spent praying on her knees, her heart heavy but hopeful. She spoke of the friends who turned away, but also of the ones who stayed, who held her up, loving her through her darkest days. It was this agape love—unconditional love—that guided her back to the light.
