When Love - Story
A dear friend of mine, a devoted pastor, once shared a touching story about his daughter, Emily, during her time in high school. Emily was bright and full of life, but like many young people, she faced the pressures of friendship and the expectations of success. As she prepared for a big presentation, she felt overwhelmed and uncertain. Her father, noticing her anxiety, sat down beside her and opened his Bible to Isaiah 40:31, reading, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
That night, instead of focusing solely on the presentation, he encouraged her to reflect on her purpose and the love that surrounded her. They prayed together, asking for guidance and strength, and Emily felt a lightness in her heart. The next day, as she stood before her classmates, she realized she wasn’t alone; she was buoyed by the love of her family, her faith, and the promise of God’s presence.
Emily delivered her presentation beautifully, not just because she was prepared, but because she understood that love—both divine and human—was guiding her. She discovered that obedience to God’s call and the act of sharing her gifts could lead to profound spiritual growth. This experience taught her that when we lean into love, we can soar, just like the eagles, towards the purpose God has in store for us. In moments of doubt, remember that love is always there, illuminating our paths and renewing our strength.
