When Mercy - Story
There once lived a master carpenter named Samuel, whose hands bore the marks of countless hours spent crafting homes for families in his small town. One winter, a fierce storm swept through, leaving many houses damaged and lives disrupted. Among those affected was a young family, the Millers, who had just moved into a dilapidated house that Samuel had promised to help restore.
The Millers were distraught, feeling abandoned by their circumstances, and wondered if they would ever feel secure in their new home. Seeing their plight, Samuel arrived at their doorstep with a simple toolbox in hand. He knelt beside them, sharing stories of his own struggles and the many times he had to trust in God’s mercy when everything felt shaky.
With every plank he reinforced and every nail he drove into the frame, he whispered words of encouragement, reminding them of 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Each swing of the hammer was an act of mercy, a reminder that, just as he was rebuilding their home, God was rebuilding their hearts.
As the storm subsided, the Millers looked at their sturdy home, knowing it was not just the wood and nails that held it together, but the love and mercy that had been poured into it. In that moment, they felt the foundation of their faith grow stronger, anchored in the hope of Christ—a hope that would support them through every trial.
