When Patience - Story
There’s a story about a young man named David who dreamed of becoming a skilled artisan, creating beautiful furniture that would last for generations. Every day after school, he would sneak into his grandfather’s workshop, where the scent of cedar and sawdust mingled in the air. His grandfather was a master craftsman, and David longed to absorb his wisdom.
One day, David approached his grandfather, eager to start his first project. “I want to make a table,” he announced with youthful enthusiasm. His grandfather smiled, but instead of handing him tools, he handed David a piece of paper with a sketch of the table. “We’ll start with the design. Every great piece begins with a plan.”
Frustrated but trusting, David spent days learning to measure, sketch, and refine. He wanted to rush into the work, but his grandfather insisted on patience. “Good things take time, David. Trust the process.” Yet, with each passing day, doubt crept in. Was he cut out for this?
Months later, after what felt like an eternity, the table was complete. As David sanded the final edge, he remembered Jeremiah 29:11—the promise that God has plans for us, plans for hope and a future. It struck him that his growth mirrored the craftsmanship of the table: strength forged in patience, beauty in perseverance.
