When Peace - Story

The morning sunlight streamed through the kitchen window as Anna prepared breakfast, her heart heavy with worry. She had just learned that her husband, Tom, had been laid off from work. With two young children and a mortgage, the weight of uncertainty pressed down on her. Just then, her daughter, Lily, burst into the room with a crayon drawing of a family, beaming with pride.

“Look, Mommy! We’re all together!” she exclaimed, her innocence radiating joy. Anna felt a flicker of warmth amid the chill of anxiety, but the worries quickly crept back in, whispering doubts about the future.

Then, she remembered the words of 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” In that moment, Anna realized that peace was not merely the absence of chaos; it was the presence of Christ within her.

With a deep breath, she knelt beside Lily, grabbed a crayon, and began to draw as well. They created a picture of a house with an open door and hearts all around it. “This is our home, filled with love,” Anna said, her heart lightening.
