Evening Prayer: Sloth - Story
As we gather this evening, let us bow our heads in prayer and invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts.
Dear Heavenly Father, today I find myself reflecting on the insidious grip of sloth in my life. It’s a subtle thief, isn’t it? It creeps in quietly, lulling us into complacency, and before we know it, our passions and our purpose begin to fade. In this moment, I turn to Your words in Matthew 28:19-20, where You command us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” This call is not merely a burden but a beautiful invitation to step into the light and life You offer.
Lord, open my eyes to see sloth not just as a personal struggle but as a barrier between me and the vibrant life You desire for me. Help me recognize the times I’ve chosen the comfort of my couch over the call of my heart—when I’ve scrolled mindlessly through my phone instead of reaching out to a friend in need, when I’ve allowed my fears to outweigh the grace You’ve poured into my life.
Empower me, Father, to ignite a spark of hope in the darkness. Give me courage to be a beacon of Your light, bringing healing and joy to those around me. May my actions reflect Your character, transforming apathy into affection for others.
