God Speaks Through Prophets: Authority Beyond Station
"I have also spoken by the prophets"—so declares Yahweh through Ezekiel. This statement carries three profound truths about divine communication and human responsibility.
First, it is God Himself who speaks through the prophets. Though the messengers may be humble or unimpressive in station, their authority transcends their personal standing. A prophet's weakness cannot diminish the power of Elohim's word delivered through him. The message carries divine authority regardless of the messenger's social position.
Second, God's self-revelation through prophets is an immeasurable mercy. Without prophets and ministers, the world would be "a dungeon of darkness." The very existence of divine communication separates those who know Yahweh's mind from those abandoned to ignorance.
Third, Adonai accounts for every effort His prophets expend. He records their vigilance, their night-watchings, their labor of persuasion. In that final day, ministers shall testify: "Lord, I revealed Thy mind thus unto them; they could not but be convinced, and yet still they continued in their wickedness." Jeremiah Burroughs reminds us that God misses nothing—not one drop of prophetic sweat, not one earnest plea.
