God's Omniscience and Honest Weights in Commerce
A just weight and balance are the Lord's.—Proverbs 16:11 reveals that Elohim's watchful activity extends directly into human commerce and trade. In primitive times, merchants practiced fraud through inadequate measures, systematically shortchanging customers with each transaction. Yet the principle transcends ancient marketplaces.
Many assume Adonai marks only major business decisions while overlooking trivial sales, minor adulterations, or disposal of damaged stock. This reasoning proves illogical: great and small are merely relative terms, holding no significance before God. If Elohim knows us at all, He knows us entirely—our whole life photographed accurately in the light of His omniscience from birth to death.
Within this exhaustive, detailed knowledge, His warm approval follows everything honest and just; His vehement censure falls upon all dishonesty and injustice. The unjust balance has not become less abominable to the Lord despite modern industrial competition multiplying and refining fraudulent methods. Double-dealing remains abominable in God's sight, regardless of claims that questionable practices have become necessary for survival.
All must order their business ways as conducted in the sight of Elohim, concerning themselves chiefly with conformity to His holy will. Do not content yourself with estimating conduct by other men's judgment, nor even by your unaided conscience alone. Unless you realize that God sees and knows—unless you account to Him—your integrity remains fundamentally compromised. Adonai's standard supersedes all human convenience.
