Interstellar: Do Not Go Gentle (Psalm 23:4)
Dylan Thomas's poem echoes throughout Interstellar: "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light." It's the anthem of humanity refusing extinction. But the Psalmist offers a different response to death: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." Both responses refuse to surrender—but one rages against darkness alone while the other walks through it with a Companion. The astronauts in Interstellar sacrifice everything to save humanity from death. Christ did the same—but instead of raging against death, he walked into it and through it, emerging on the other side. We don't have to rage against the dying of the light. The Light himself has already conquered the darkness.
