Lessons from Gentleness - Story
A young boy named Daniel loved to explore the woods behind his house. One crisp autumn afternoon, he ventured deeper than ever before, enchanted by the kaleidoscope of colors around him. As he wandered, the sun began to set, casting long shadows and painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. Suddenly, he realized he had lost his way. Panic set in. The familiar trees, once friendly companions, now loomed like giants, their silhouettes dark and forbidding.
Just as fear threatened to overwhelm him, he spotted a gentle light flickering in the distance. It was the soft glow of his mother’s lantern, illuminating the path back home. He remembered her voice echoing in his heart, “Whenever you feel lost, look for the light.” With each careful step toward that warm beacon, he felt reassurance wash over him. The light didn’t shout or demand; it simply invited him forward with its gentle glow.
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commissions us to make disciples, to guide others toward His light. Like the lantern in the woods, gentleness illuminates our way, leading us not with harshness, but with love and invitation. As Daniel found his way back home, he learned that gentleness can indeed be a powerful guide. In moments of uncertainty, may we all look for the light of Christ—gentle yet unwavering—leading us toward deeper spiritual growth and purpose. Each step taken in faith is a step toward home, where we are embraced in His agape love.
