Lessons from Goodness - Story
A few months ago, I attended a community gathering at a local park. It was a beautiful summer day, the sun shining brightly as families spread out their picnic blankets, laughter mingling with the sweet aroma of barbecues. As I wandered through the crowd, I noticed a young boy named Sam, perhaps eight or nine years old, standing at the edge of a small group of kids playing soccer. He watched intently, his eyes wide with a mix of longing and uncertainty.
After a few moments, I saw a girl with a bright red headband kick the ball towards him. Instead of joining in, Sam hesitated, glancing back at his mom, who was watching with a reassuring smile. Gathering his courage, he ran onto the field. The moment he stepped into the game, the joy around him transformed; his laughter rang out, and soon he was scoring goals and high-fiving his new friends.
This scene reminds me of Jesus’ words in John 14:6, where He declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Just as Sam found direction and purpose in that moment, we too are invited to respond to the goodness of God’s call. When we step into the community He has placed us in, we experience the joy of belonging. In our journey of faith, let us not hesitate to embrace one another, leaning into the vibrant life Christ offers. Together, we celebrate the goodness that transforms our hearts and guides our steps, creating a tapestry of hope and connection.
