Lessons from Kindness - Biblical Analogy
A friend of mine, Carol, runs a small community garden in our neighborhood. Every spring, her garden becomes a vibrant tapestry of colors and life, but it didn’t start that way. A few years back, the soil was parched and rocky, yielding little more than stubborn weeds. Carol, however, saw potential where others saw a barren patch of land. With determination and kindness, she began amending the soil—adding compost, mulch, and a sprinkle of love. Day after day, she would invite neighbors to join her, not just in the labor of planting, but in sharing meals, stories, and laughter.
As the seasons passed, the garden flourished. They grew tomatoes, peppers, and herbs that filled their cups and bellies with nourishment. But more importantly, the garden became a sanctuary where friendships blossomed and hope took root. Carol often reminds us, “Each act of kindness is like a seed planted in the fertile soil of our hearts.”
This mirrors the words of Jesus in John 14:6, where He says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus guides us to cultivate our lives with kindness, nurturing one another in community. Just as Carol tended to the soil, we can nourish each other in our spiritual growth, helping each other thrive amidst life’s rocky patches. Friends, let us be like Carol—intentional in our kindness and committed to creating spaces where everyone can grow, flourish, and find their way in Christ.
