Quiet Time: Environmental Justice
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause today to contemplate the urgency of Environmental Justice, I feel the echoes of Your love resonating through the words of 1 John 4:19: "We love because He first loved us." This truth challenges me to see the world not just through my eyes, but through Yours—to see the beauty in creation, the plight of those affected by pollution and neglect, and the sacredness of the earth you entrusted to us.
Imagine a young child playing in a park, her laughter ringing out like a melody. But what if that park were choked with litter, the air thick with smog? Your heart breaks for her, just as it breaks for the communities struggling against rising tides, parched lands, and poisoned waters. Each piece of trash is a lost opportunity for joy, each polluted stream a reminder of our responsibility.
Lord, as I walk through my day, let me be a beacon of light amidst this darkness. Inspire me to take tangible steps—even small ones—like organizing a cleanup, advocating for sustainable practices, or simply sharing a conversation about stewardship with a friend. May my actions reflect Your character, embodying the hesed (steadfast love) that You extend to us every day.
