Quiet Time: Global Pandemic & Community
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today, as I dwell on the realities of our Global Pandemic and the longing for authentic community, I find refuge in the profound truth of 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.” This verse resonates deeply in our current context, reminding us that love is not merely a feeling but an active choice—one that must echo through our actions, particularly in these challenging times.
Imagine, for a moment, a flickering candle in a darkened room. Its soft glow, though small, has the power to dispel shadows and bring comfort to those who might be feeling isolated or afraid. In the same way, we are called to be lights amidst the uncertainty. How are we meditating on this call to love? Are we extending grace to our neighbors, checking in on the elderly next door, or offering a listening ear to a friend who feels overwhelmed?
Let us strive to embody the hesed—the steadfast love—of God in our daily interactions. Each time we reach out, we reflect God’s character and invite others to experience His embrace. Perhaps it is in a simple phone call to someone who feels forgotten or delivering a meal to a family in need.
