Quiet Time: Political Division & Unity
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I sit in quiet reflection today, I am struck by the weight of political division that has seeped into our lives—like a heavy fog that obscures the path ahead. In Ephesians 4:29, you remind us, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs.” Lord, how often do we forget this vital command in our discussions about politics? We can become so entrenched in our viewpoints that we forget the person behind the opinion—the neighbor, the friend, the fellow believer.
Help me to see beyond the noise and chaos of our divided landscape—help me to see through your eyes. Remind me that every person I encounter, even those with whom I disagree, is crafted in your image, deserving of love and grace. Empower me to be a beacon of hope, radiating your shalom—your peace—into conversations that may otherwise spiral into anger.
Imagine, if we each took a moment in our day to listen, truly listen, to differing perspectives. What if we approached each dialogue not with the intent to win an argument, but to understand and build bridges? May my words be like salve to wounds, uplifting and healing rather than tearing down. Let my actions be reflections of your character, that through me, others might draw closer to the truth of your love.
