Reflecting on Patience - Commentary

Patience isn’t simply waiting; it’s an active, faith-filled stance amidst uncertainty. Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This verse invites us to understand faith as a living, breathing entity that thrives in the soil of patience and perseverance.

Think of a gardener. When seeds are sown, the gardener doesn’t stand idly by, frustrated by the wait for the harvest. Instead, she waters, tends, and nurtures, believing the invisible work of growth is happening beneath the surface. Similarly, our spiritual growth often mirrors this process. We may not see immediate results in our lives or the lives of those we love, but God is gently cultivating something profound in our hearts.

Joseph spent years in prison, yet he trusted in God’s purpose. These stories remind us that divine revelation often unfolds over time, shaping our character and deepening our trust.
