The Address That Never Changes
Every device that connects to a network — your phone, your laptop, your tablet — carries two addresses. The first is an IP address, assigned by whatever network you happen to join. Move to a new coffee shop, connect to a different Wi-Fi, and your IP address changes. It is temporary, contextual, borrowed.
But underneath that shifting label lives something called a MAC address — a unique identifier burned into the hardware at the moment of manufacture. It never changes. It does not matter what network the device joins, what country it travels to, or how many times it is reset. The manufacturer wrote that address into the circuitry before the device ever powered on.
We live in a world that hands us IP addresses. Your job title, your relationship status, your social media following, your net worth — these are all temporary assignments based on whatever network you have joined. And when the network changes, so does the label. No wonder we feel lost.
But the God who knit you together in your mother's womb assigned you something far deeper than a temporary label. He wrote your identity into the very fabric of your being before you ever drew breath. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," He told Jeremiah.
The world will keep reassigning your address. But your Maker already wrote the one that matters — and nothing can overwrite it.
