The Backup That Never Stopped Running

In 2007, Apple introduced a feature called Time Machine — a backup system built into every Mac computer. What makes Time Machine remarkable is not just that it saves your files. It runs quietly in the background, every single hour, creating a complete snapshot of everything on your computer. Most users forget it is even there. They go about their work, never thinking about backups, never remembering to save. But Time Machine remembers for them.

Then the moment comes. A hard drive crashes. A critical file is accidentally deleted. A virus corrupts everything. And in that moment of panic, Time Machine steps forward with something astonishing: it can restore your entire system — every file, every photo, every document — to exactly the way it was before the damage occurred. What seemed irretrievably lost is recovered completely.

The prophet Joel spoke of a God who does something similar with human lives: "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten" (Joel 2:25). The Almighty has been keeping watch over your life even during the seasons when you forgot He was there. Every moment of loss, every season of damage — He has been faithfully present, holding what you thought was gone forever.

When you come to Him broken, He does not hand you a partial recovery. He restores. Completely. Because the God who never stopped watching never lost track of a single thing that matters to you.
