The Blood That Tells You Who You Are

When a patient receives a bone marrow transplant, something remarkable happens. The donor's marrow takes root and begins producing new blood cells — cells that carry the donor's DNA, not the recipient's. Over time, if the transplant succeeds, every white blood cell, every red blood cell flowing through the patient's veins belongs genetically to someone else. In forensic terms, their blood tells a different story than their skin. Hematologists call this chimerism. The patient's blood type can actually change to match the donor's. A person who was Type A their entire life wakes up one morning as Type O.

The old blood, the blood that carried the disease, is gone. The new blood declares a new identity.

Paul wrote something that sounds almost clinical in its precision: "If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here." That is not poetry alone. That is diagnosis and prognosis in a single breath.

So many of us walk through life defined by the old blood — old failures, old labels, old shame running through our veins. But God does not merely treat the symptoms. He replaces what flows through us at the deepest level. He gives us the blood of Another, and that blood rewrites who we are.

You are not what your old life says about you. You are what the Donor's blood declares.
