The Example of Humility - Story
In a quaint village nestled between rolling hills, there lived an elderly potter named Eliana. Her hands, worn and calloused, told stories of years spent shaping clay into beautiful vessels. One day, a young woman named Mira approached Eliana, her heart heavy with doubt about her purpose. "I feel like I’m just going through the motions," she confessed. "I want to grow spiritually, but I don’t know how."
Eliana smiled gently, inviting Mira to observe her work. She took a lump of clay and began to mold it, her fingers deftly transforming the formless mass into a lovely bowl. “You see, dear Mira,” Eliana said, “when I begin, I never force the clay. I start by pressing gently, allowing each curve to emerge naturally. It’s a dance of patience and trust.”
For a moment, Mira watched in awe. Then, Eliana continued, “Just like this clay, our growth requires humility. In Romans 12:2, we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This transformation doesn’t come from striving but from yielding to God’s gentle touch.”
Mira felt a spark of hope ignite within her. Eliana went on, “Humility opens us to love—for ourselves, for others, and for God. It invites community, where we learn together, grow together, and support one another on our journeys.”
