The Example of Love - Story
There was a small village nestled in the hills, where a wise old woman named Eleni lived. Every day, she would sit on her porch, knitting and watching her neighbors. One winter, a terrible storm swept through, leaving the roads impassable and isolating the villagers. Supplies ran low, and anxiety filled the air like the biting cold.
As the days passed, Eleni noticed that one family, the Apostolos, was particularly struggling. They had just welcomed a newborn, and with the storm raging, their food and essentials dwindled. Despite her own modest means, Eleni felt a pull in her heart—a whisper urging her to help.
One evening, she gathered what little she had: a loaf of bread, some honey, and a few blankets. With determination, she donned her warmest coat and set out into the storm. The snow swirled around her, but she pressed on, each step fueled by love and a deep sense of purpose. When she finally reached the Apostolos’ home, her heart swelled with joy. Eleni knocked, and the family, surprised to see her, welcomed her in with tears of gratitude.
As she shared her meager offerings, she told them, “Love is the way. As I have come to you, so too must we reach out to one another.” In that moment, Eleni embodied the words of Christ from John 14:6, proclaiming that love is indeed the way, the truth, and the life.
