The Face Beneath the Filters

When Apple introduced Face ID in 2017, the technology worked by projecting more than thirty thousand invisible infrared dots onto your face, creating a precise mathematical map of the unique geometry beneath your skin. What makes it remarkable is what it ignores. You can grow a beard, change your hairstyle, put on sunglasses, or gain twenty pounds. The system sees past every surface change to the structure underneath. It recognizes you not by how you present yourself, but by who you actually are.

We spend our lives projecting carefully curated versions of ourselves — on social media, in the workplace, even at church. We add filters. We adjust the lighting. We crop out the parts we would rather no one see. And after enough years of performing, we start to forget which version is real.

But the God who knit you together in your mother's womb does not read your highlight reel. He sees the thirty thousand invisible points of your soul — every contour, every hidden depth. Psalm 139:1 says, "You have searched me, Lord, and You know me." He knows the geometry beneath every mask you have ever worn.

And here is the breathtaking part: He does not merely recognize you. He claims you. He calls you beloved, chosen, His own.

You do not need another filter. The One who sees you most clearly is the One who loves you most deeply.
