The Love That Recalculates

If you have ever missed a turn while using Google Maps, you know what happens next. There is no lecture. No guilt trip. No long silence. The screen simply flickers, and within seconds you hear that calm, steady voice: "Recalculating."

It does not matter how badly you have veered off course. It does not matter if you ignored the last three prompts or took a wrong turn on purpose. The system never throws up its hands and says, "You are on your own now." It meets you exactly where you are and charts a new path forward.

That is a faint echo of how the Almighty loves us.

The prophet Hosea knew something about love that refuses to quit. God told him to love a wife who kept walking away, because that is precisely what divine love looks like — not a love that waits for us to get it right, but a love that recalculates every time we wander. "I will heal their waywardness and love them freely," the Lord declares in Hosea 14:4.

Here is the difference, though. Google Maps recalculates because it is programmed to. God recalculates because He chooses to. Every time you drift, every time you take the exit marked selfishness or fear or pride, His love is already plotting a new route home.

You have never wandered so far that His voice cannot reach you.
