The Network That Never Stops Searching

When Apple introduced AirTags in 2021, they revealed something remarkable about how the Find My network operates. When you lose a tagged item — say, a suitcase left at an airport — you don't search alone. Nearly two billion Apple devices worldwide silently, anonymously ping that tiny tracker. A stranger's iPhone in a coffee shop in Dallas, a teenager's iPad in Toronto, a businesswoman's MacBook in London — each one quietly listening, relaying the signal, helping locate what's been lost. The owner never knows which devices helped. The helpers never know they participated. The whole network simply works, tirelessly, until what was lost is found.

Jesus told a story about that kind of love. A shepherd leaves ninety-nine sheep on a hillside to search for the one that wandered off (Luke 15:4). It sounds reckless — until you understand the nature of the Shepherd's heart. The Almighty doesn't shrug when one of His children drifts away. He mobilizes everything.

But here's where divine love surpasses even the most elegant technology: the Find My network locates objects. God pursues persons. Apple's network transmits data. The Most High transmits grace. And unlike a Bluetooth signal that fades beyond thirty feet, the love of God, as Paul writes, cannot be separated from us by height or depth or anything in all creation (Romans 8:38-39).
