The Passion of the Christ: Christ the Rock - Christocentric (Matthew 7:24-27)

Imagine a small town along the coast, where the houses cling to the hillside—each one a little treasure, built with love and care. In this town lived a man named James, a carpenter who poured his heart into every beam and board. One day, a fierce storm swept through, the kind that rattles windows and shakes the very earth beneath your feet. As the winds howled and the rain lashed against the windows, James stood firm in his home—a refuge built upon a solid foundation.

In the chaos of that storm, James’ neighbor, Samuel, raced to his house, panic-stricken, fearing for the safety of his family. “James! How can you be so calm? The storm is raging!” James smiled gently and replied, “I built my house on rock. When the winds come, I know my foundation is strong.”

As the tempest raged on, we could see the homes around them, built on shifting sand, shuddering and collapsing under the weight of the storm's fury. James’ house, however, stood tall and unwavering, just like the wise builder in Matthew 7:24-27. You see, it wasn't merely the construction that mattered; it was the choice of foundation—the unshakeable rock that was his faith in Christ.

In this moment of crisis, James didn’t just hear the words of Christ; he lived them. His home was a testament to a life built on the teachings and character of Jesus. In times of trouble, when the storm rages and fear grips our hearts, we must ask ourselves: are we building our lives on the solid rock of Christ?
