The Password You Were Given

Every iPhone ships with a unique identifier burned into its hardware at the factory — Apple calls it a UDID. You cannot change it. You cannot delete it. No software update, no factory reset, no amount of dropping it on the pavement will alter that string of characters. It was assigned before the device ever left the assembly line, and it remains true for the entire life of the phone, regardless of what apps get installed or removed, regardless of how cracked the screen becomes, regardless of whether it ends up in a leather case or a junk drawer.

Social media platforms assign us metrics — follower counts, like ratios, engagement scores — and we start believing those numbers say something true about who we are. A bad review feels like a verdict. A viral moment feels like validation. We keep refreshing the screen, hoping the next notification will finally tell us we matter.

But God wrote your identity into being before you ever drew breath. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," He told Jeremiah. Your worth is not calculated by an algorithm. It is not subject to updates or patches. It was declared by the Creator Himself, and no amount of worldly noise can overwrite what the Almighty has already encoded into your soul.

You are not your metrics. You are His.
