The Power of Joy - Quote
On a crisp autumn morning, I found myself wandering through a local orchard, the air filled with the scent of ripe apples. As I strolled between the trees, I noticed a little girl, perhaps six years old, eagerly tugging at her mother’s hand. “Can we pick some apples now, Mommy?” she pleaded, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. The mother smiled, but she gently replied, “Not yet, my love. We must wait until they are fully ripe.”
I watched as the girl’s face fell for a moment, a mix of disappointment and confusion. Yet, as we stood there, I saw her turn back to the trees, her expression transforming from impatience to wonder. She began to touch the leaves, marveling at the colors, and listened intently to the wind rustling through the branches. Moments later, she exclaimed, “Look, Mommy! They’re changing! They’re beautiful!”
In that moment, I realized that joy isn’t just found in the waiting but in the act of anticipation itself. Waiting can feel like a barren stretch of time, yet it is often where our hearts are transformed. Just as Jesus declared in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life, so too does He guide us in our waiting and renewal. He invites us to grow, to be filled with hope, and to find joy even in the pauses of life. May we embrace this waiting with open hearts, knowing that every moment is a step closer to the abundant harvest He has promised.
