The Power of Peace - Story
There once was a small village nestled between rolling hills, where a wise old man named Eli lived. Each morning, villagers would gather at his modest home, seeking guidance and comfort for their troubles. One day, a young woman named Miriam approached him, her heart heavy with uncertainty. She felt the weight of the world on her shoulders and longed for peace and purpose.
Eli invited Miriam to sit with him by the window, where sunlight streamed in, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. “Do you see that tree outside?” he asked, pointing to a sturdy oak. “Its roots run deep, drawing nourishment from the soil. Just as it flourishes by being firmly planted, so too must you ground yourself in faith and obedience.”
He then encouraged her to meditate on the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20, where He commissions us to go and make disciples. “This isn’t just a call to action,” Eli said, “it’s an invitation to grow. When we obey His command, we experience His blessings and the peace that surpasses all understanding.”
Miriam took those words to heart. She began to reach out to others in her village, sharing her faith and serving those in need. As she did, she felt the burdens of her heart lift. In the midst of her obedience, she discovered a profound joy and a sense of purpose. Each act of kindness deepened her roots in Christ, bringing her the peace she had longed for.
