The Power of Peace - Story

Sister Mary sat on her front porch, sipping sweet tea as the sun dipped low in the sky, painting the horizon in hues of orange and purple. It was her sacred time, a moment of peace amid the chaos of her week. But today, her spirit felt heavy. Waiting for news about her son, who had been searching for a job for months, left her restless. Each passing day felt like an eternity, and worry crept in, tugging at her heart.

As she watched the children play in the yard, she recalled the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20, a promise that filled her with hope: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” In that moment, Sister Mary realized that while she was waiting, she wasn’t alone. The Lord was right there with her, guiding her, comforting her.

With renewed strength, she picked up her phone and called her son. “Baby, I know it’s tough, but while you’re waiting, don’t just sit idle. Seek opportunities, find new skills, and lean into the community. God is working even when we can’t see it.”

That evening, her son attended a local job fair, and by the end of the week, he received a call about a promising opportunity. As Sister Mary reflected on the week’s events, she understood: waiting doesn’t mean being passive; it’s a time for action rooted in peace and trust in God’s plan.
