The Watermark You Cannot Remove

Every photograph you post online can be copied, cropped, filtered, and reposted until no one remembers where it came from. That is why companies like Digimarc developed digital watermarking. Their technology embeds an invisible signature into every pixel of an image — not stamped on top where it can be trimmed away, but woven into the very structure of the file itself. You can screenshot it, compress it, run it through a dozen filters. The watermark remains. It declares who the true owner is, no matter how many hands the image passes through.

Scripture tells us something remarkably similar about our identity. Genesis 1:27 says we are made in the image of God — the Imago Dei. That image is not stamped on the outside where life can wear it away. It is woven into our very being. And no amount of failure, no season of wandering, no distortion from shame or regret can strip it from us.

The world will try to crop you down to your job title, your net worth, your worst mistake. Social media will compress you into a curated highlight reel. But none of that touches what the Creator embedded at the deepest level of who you are.

You are not what the world has made of you. You are what God made you to be. His watermark is in every fiber of your soul, and nothing in all creation can remove it.
