Thirty Thousand Points of Recognition

When Apple introduced Face ID in 2017, they built something remarkable into the iPhone's TrueDepth camera: a tiny projector that casts thirty thousand invisible infrared dots onto your face, mapping its unique geometry in milliseconds. It works in the dark. It works when you're wearing glasses. It recognizes you first thing in the morning — hair uncombed, eyes half open — because it doesn't read your surface appearance. It reads the structure underneath.

We spend enormous energy managing the face we present to the world. We curate our profiles, choose our words carefully, dress the part. We perform an identity we hope others will accept. But Face ID doesn't care about the performance. It looks past the presentation to the architecture of who you actually are.

The Psalmist wrote, "You knit me together in my mother's womb. I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:13–14). Long before any engineer mapped thirty thousand points on a human face, the Almighty had already mapped every fiber of your being — not to unlock a device, but to know you and call you His own.

Your truest identity was never something you had to construct or perform. It was written into the very structure of who you are by a God who sees past every mask, every filter, every carefully managed impression — and loves the real person underneath.
