Three Million Reasons
In 2003, the Human Genome Project completed its mapping of the entire human DNA sequence — a thirteen-year effort led by Dr. Francis Collins. Among the most striking discoveries was this: every human being on earth shares 99.9% of their genetic code. That tiny remaining fraction — just one-tenth of one percent — accounts for roughly three million base pairs of DNA that make you absolutely, irreducibly you.
Three million points of uniqueness. Three million places where the Creator wrote something into your biology that He wrote into no one else's.
We live in a world that constantly tries to sort us into categories — by our productivity, our appearance, our usefulness. But the science tells a different story. Before you ever earned a grade or a title or a paycheck, before anyone called you talented or overlooked, you were already singular. Already specific. Already unlike anyone who has ever lived or ever will.
The psalmist understood this long before geneticists confirmed it: "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). That word "wonderfully" carries the sense of something set apart, distinguished, marked out by divine intention.
You are not an accident of biology. You are not a copy. The God who encoded three million unique markers into your DNA did not make you to blend in. He made you to bear His image in a way that only you can.
