When the Sky Spoke His Name
In Disney's The Lion King, there is a scene that has moved audiences for over three decades. Simba, the rightful king, has been living in exile. He has spent years hiding from his past, running from his identity, convinced he is nothing more than a failure. He eats bugs with Timon and Pumbaa. He laughs, but there is an emptiness behind it. He has forgotten who he is.
Then, in the wilderness, the spirit of his father Mufasa appears in the clouds. His voice rolls like thunder across the savanna: "You have forgotten who you are, and so have forgotten me. You are more than what you have become. Remember who you are."
Those words shatter something in Simba. Not because they tell him something new — but because they remind him of something true.
How many of us are living in our own exile? We have listened to the voices of shame, failure, and regret for so long that we have forgotten whose we are. We eat the scraps the world offers and call it enough.
But the God who shaped you in the womb speaks over you still. The Almighty says what He has always said: "You are Mine. You are more than what you have become."
You are not your worst mistake. You are not your deepest wound. You are a child of the living God — and He is calling you to remember.
