Written in Your Very Cells

In September 1984, geneticist Alec Jeffreys was working in his laboratory at the University of Leicester when he noticed something extraordinary on an X-ray film of DNA samples. Each person's genetic material contained repeating sequences arranged in patterns so distinctive that no two people on earth share the same profile. Jeffreys called them "DNA fingerprints" — a molecular signature as unique as the whorls on your fingertips, but written into every one of your thirty-seven trillion cells.

Think about that. Before you ever spoke your first word, chose your career, or earned a single accomplishment, your Creator had already written a signature into the fabric of your body that belongs to you alone. Your identity is not something you have to manufacture. It was authored before you took your first breath.

The psalmist understood this long before modern genetics. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb" (Psalm 139:13). God did not mass-produce humanity on an assembly line. He crafted each life with deliberate, unrepeatable specificity.

In a world that constantly asks you to prove who you are — through your productivity, your appearance, your social standing — the science of your own body tells a different story. You were known before you were born. You were designed before you drew breath. And the One who wrote His signature into your DNA has never once confused you with anyone else.
