Written Into Every Cell

Every day, the DNA inside a single human cell sustains between ten thousand and one hundred thousand molecular lesions — breaks, mismatches, and chemical damage from the simple act of being alive. Left unrepaired, a human body would collapse into chaos within hours.

But it doesn't. Because built into every cell is a stunning network of repair enzymes that patrol, detect, and restore damaged DNA with breathtaking precision. In 2015, scientists Tomas Lindahl, Paul Modrich, and Aziz Sancar received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for mapping these repair mechanisms — systems so elegant they can snip out a damaged segment of genetic code and rebuild it, letter by letter, back to its original design.

Think about that. The Creator didn't simply make us. He built restoration into our very blueprint. Before the first wound ever came, the repair was already written in.

The prophet Joel saw something similar at work in the spiritual realm: "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten" (Joel 2:25). God doesn't merely bandage what's broken. Like those repair enzymes, He works at the deepest level — removing the damage, rebuilding according to the original design.

Whatever has been broken in your life — a marriage, a calling, your sense of worth — the God who encoded restoration into your very cells has not forgotten His design for you. Repair was never an afterthought. It was the plan all along.
