First Man: Whom Shall I Send? (Isaiah 6:8)

In First Man, Neil Armstrong volunteers for the impossible: walking on the moon. The mission kills friends, strains his marriage, asks everything. When asked why, Armstrong can barely articulate it. Some missions choose us. Whom shall I send? God asks in Isaiah's vision. The question comes after Isaiah sees the throne, hears the seraphim, feels his lips cleansed. Calling follows encounter. Armstrong encountered something—the cosmos, possibility, grief from his daughter's death. He said yes to a mission that would cost everything except meaning.
