God's Perfect Knowledge and Unchanging Counsel

God declares "the end from the beginning" (Isaiah 46:10), a truth that distinguishes the Almighty from human limitation. When mortals undertake an enterprise, unforeseen difficulties arise and baffle our best calculations. Not so with Yahweh. He is not passively existent but essentially, incessantly, everlastingly active—He "fainteth not, neither is weary."

Consider four dimensions of God's work: First, He possesses complete foreknowledge. When God inaugurated the work of redemption, He perceived all infidelities, superstitions, depravities, and hells that would oppose Him. Second, He has revealed the future through prophetic declaration—sweeping all wrongs and woes, all sins and sufferings from this planet, and peopling heaven with untold millions of redeemed souls. Third, He executes His counsel through myriad instrumentalities and ministries, employing thousands of agents who work by His direction and power. Fourth, He rejoices in His work; to re-create and re-paradise lost souls is His pleasure.

Unlike humanity—whose plans crumble under new circumstances or insurmountable difficulties—God faces no such impediment. He possesses infinite power and infinite wisdom. Past, present, and future are an everlasting now to Him. His resolves remain unchanged because His nature is unchangeable (Psalm 33:11; Proverbs 19:21; Acts 5:39). In the regularity of nature's works, we glimpse the steadfastness of the Great Mechanist, whose counsel shall stand forever.
