Spiritual Insight: Thanksgiving
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we approach this season of Thanksgiving, I find myself drawn to the profound parable in Luke 15:11-32—the story of the prodigal son. Picture this young man, filled with reckless ambition, demanding his inheritance, setting off to a distant land, only to find himself in the depths of despair. He squanders everything in wild living, and when he hits rock bottom, he remembers the warmth of his father’s home, a place of love and acceptance.
In this moment of awakening, he realizes that true abundance lies not in material wealth but in the grace of a loving father. As I reflect on Thanksgiving in my own life, I am reminded of the countless times I, too, have wandered away, chasing after fleeting pleasures and neglecting the richness of relationship with You, Lord. Help me to see my life through Your eyes—eyes of infinite compassion and unwavering grace.
In this spirit of gratitude, guide me to be a beacon of hope in a world often clouded by darkness. May my actions reflect Your character, as I extend love and forgiveness to those around me. Just as the father ran to embrace his son, may I reach out to those who feel lost or estranged, embodying Your chesed—Your steadfast love.
